I just got back from my trip to Canada early last week, and while it was so much fun, I am certainly happy to be back home! Some of my relatives live up in Canada and my mom grew up there, so I usually visit at least once a year. This time around, I started my trip in Vancouver to visit a friend, headed to Ottawa for my uncle’s wedding, and then to Montreal to see where my mom grew up! Crazy that I’ve been to Canada more times than I can count, but this was my first time venturing outside of Vancouver!
VANCOUVER
Last summer I wrote a post about my favorite places in Vancouver, which you can read here, but I have a few updates! Siegel’s Bagels is still the number one place to visit in my mind, but my friend took me to a few new places that I would definitely recommend. First up being Yolks Breakfast. It was so good!! We also visited Ground Coffee which has some of the best cinnamon rolls. To work off all that food, we headed to Lighthouse Park which was a great hike and had beautiful views!

OTTAWA
If I’m being honest, I didn’t expect to like Ottawa so much! I never really knew much about it, and it’s not one of the places you hear about very often when you think of Canada. But, it was beautiful! The weather was perfect (although I hear their winters are brutal), and it was the perfect mix of city and nature.
The first day we were there, my mom and I visited the Parliament Building. We couldn’t go in, but the outside was incredible! I can only imagine how cool it is on the inside. The next morning we went for a walk along the canal which was really nice. After that we headed to the wedding! The dress I wore was perfect for the occasion and so comfy – not to mention a great price!! (It’s on sale right now for $30!!!)

MONTREAL
My mom grew up in Montreal, and it was so special to see where she spent her childhood! Here’s a cute pic of her in front of her elementary school!

After exploring my mom’s old neighborhood, we spent the next day in old Montreal. It was so beautiful and reminded me so much of Europe! The architecture, cobblestone streets, and cafes on every corner definitely had me fooled – not to mention the fact that everyone speaks French!

The trip overall was so much fun, but I’m excited to stay put for a few weeks! Up next is Italy and I cannot wait!!! Bring on all the pizza, pasta, and gelato!
Are you traveling anywhere fun this summer?

Love the pics! Your mom looks so cute in front of her old school 🙂 I visited them when they lived on Sherbrooke St. back when I was in high school – fun trip! I remember all the snow too! 🙂
