I can’t tell you how glad I am it’s a new year! I know not everything changed the minute the clock struck midnight of January 1st, but I think we could all use a little refresh/restart after 2020. I’m a huge goal setter (no matter the time of year!), and after this past year it felt really important to sit down and come up with some goals to motivate myself. So I thought I’d share my 2021 goals!
I tried to be as realistic as possible and set goals that are achievable whether life goes back to a more ‘normal’ state, or if we continue to social distance/shelter in place for the entire year. If we learned anything in 2020 it’s not to make too aspirational of plans, and to take things as they come!
My word of the year: Consistency
This word encompasses what I want to achieve overall, and guided each of the following goals. If you saw my IG Live with Lindi over the weekend, this is basically the same info summed up into a post. So with that in mind, here are my 2021 goals!
1. Prioritize My Morning/Night Routines
I am truly the worst at sticking to morning/night routines… Which is so funny considering how much I love routine, structure, and plans. Don’t worry, I wash my face and brush my teeth every day – I just never do it at the same time. At night it’s usually me trying to get through my skincare routine as quick as possible because it’s late, I’ve been watching TV, and I’m ready to just crawl in bed. In the morning, I wake up at different times each day depending on what I have planned. Not good!
I want a better structure for my routines so that I don’t feel rushed. Since I don’t have a corporate job with the same schedule each day, I crave routine and I need to commit myself to make good routines a habit! I haven’t fully figured it all out, but here’s what I envision implementing:
- Wake up at (roughly) the same time each morning
- No phone right when I wake up
- Go to bed at (roughly) the same time each night
- No phone or TV an hour before bed
- Read or needlepoint before bed (instead of screens)
I just want my days to feel more structured, and to get better sleep!
2. Share More Here & on IG
Something I’ve struggled with since I started my blog is consistency. I also put a lot of pressure on myself to share only what I think is ‘good enough’ which means I rarely post frequently because I’m overthinking. I’ve been more consistent since quarantine and made more time to dedicate to the blog, and it’s been so great! My goal is to continue this consistency throughout 2021 and not put too much pressure on getting everything perfect.
3. Less Screen Time
This goes hand in hand with my first goal, but I want to commit to less time on my phone throughout the day, as well. I have had settings on my phone to limit my screen time for the past month or so which has been really helpful for me to see where I’m spending too much time. Instead of picking up my phone I want to be more present!! This is a goal of mine every year, and I hate to say it but it really is hard. I think a good idea would be to take a few days off social media every once in a while, since social media is most of what I do on my phone!
4. Create a Better System for My Job Hunt
The job hunt was on the back burner for the holiday season, but I’m ready to get back at it! It can be super overwhelming and frustrating, and I know I need a better way to go about it. Honestly I don’t know what this looks like quite yet, but part of the goal is to do some research and find a way to make the job search less daunting!

I’m always setting goals, like I said, so there are probably more I will work on throughout the year, but these are the main ones for me! I feel really good about my 2021 goals, and I think they’ll keep me motivated and on track with my bigger goals/dreams going forward. Happy New Year, friends!
xx, c
