W O W it’s been a while since my last life lately. I’m very happy to be back and cluing you in on what’s been going on the past few months.
Blog
I have been so busy in every other aspect of life and truthfully have felt super unmotivated and uninspired recently when it comes to blogging. I feel like the content I was putting out wasn’t ‘good enough’ or that I’m the only one reading. I know that’s silly because this isn’t about how many views or clicks or likes or whatever else. I started this blog because I have fun doing it, and I’m trying to get back in that mindset! With so many social media platforms and ways to compare yourself, it’s easy to feel insecure, but I’m hoping this little slump is over with! I also got to attend a panel with a few different bloggers and photographers who had some amazing advice which has me a little more inspired – I will have a post up with their advice soon!!
School
This semester has been the BEST semester yet in terms of academics. I’m FINALLY taking classes that I’m enjoying and doing even better in terms of grades – probably because I love my classes so much! Switching to strat comm has been amazing and I love love love the program.
I’m also finally taking my required speech class and I have been so pleasantly surprised! For a communications major, I sure hate public speaking (anyone else?!). The class hasn’t been as nerve-wracking as expected and my professor is the greatest!
One class that is not my favorite is U.S. History. It doesn’t matter how many times I take it (I think this is the third time in my life I’ve had a U.S. History class!!), I never can remember all the details. #sendhelp
Work/Internship
This semester I’ve been babysitting a few days a week and it’s been great so far. I love kids so much and am also happy to be able to save up some extra money.
I also recently got an internship with UnBound Fort Worth – a nonprofit that fights human trafficking. I’ve been helping them with social media and communications. I love that I’m able to work with their communications and at the same time know I’m helping such a great cause!
Sorority
I believe I touched on applying for this position in my last life update, but I am now Public Relations Chair for my sorority! It has been one of the most valuable experiences I’ve had so far here at TCU – there have certainly been ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! I love being able to serve my chapter and make such an impact on both the present and future of Phi Mu at TCU! I have so many amazing women helping me out and it has been so much fun! Everyone go follow @tcuphimu 😉
Everything else!
I got back to Fort Worth last week after spending Spring Break back in California. I spent the first few days home, went down to LA/Disneyland for a bit, and then back home. I definitely needed to see my friends and family back home – the perfect mid-semester pick-me-up!
This past weekend I attended the March For Our Lives which was such a powerful experience. I can’t say enough about how inspired I am by the high school students who led the marches and the change they are calling for! The march itself was tragic, frustrating, inspiring and full of hope all at the same time. Tragic and frustrating because I am saddened and angered that we have to protest for this change, but inspiring and hopeful because I know that change is coming.
xx, C
