If you were keeping up on Insta-stories, you probably noticed I was in NYC for a few days! It was so nice to take a break from school and explore the city with my mom. We went for my grandpa’s book signing and decided we’d make a weekend out of it since I had Monday and Tuesday off of school!
Friday
I landed in New York on Friday afternoon! My mom and I grabbed lunch and walked around before we headed to my grandpa’s book signing. I didn’t take many pictures this day, since we were with my grandpa and friends!
Saturday
Our first full day in NYC started out with pancakes and ended with pasta (as all the best days do!). This was my outfit, and it was perfect for walking and shopping! My gingham button up is from Target, and it’s the best!! I can’t find it online, but here is a similar one from J. Crew. I know I’ll be wearing it all throughout fall. My slip ons are Steve Madden and they’re so comfy! And of course I’m wearing my favorite jeans.
After a day spent searching for a formal dress (we found one!!) my mom and I got dinner at the cutest Italian restaurant Trattoria Dell’Arte. It’s right across from Carnegie Hall and has the most amazing pesto ravioli 🙌🏻
While walking around we found the Little Cupcake Bakeshop who advertised have the best chocolate cake in NYC. Naturally, we had to find out if this was true or not. Unfortunately, they do not have the best chocolate cake, or cupcakes. 2/10, would not recommend. 10/10 for packaging and aesthetic though!!
Sunday
After sleeping in, we headed to a French cafe for brunch! Then we headed to walk the Highline, which is an old railroad track that is now a walking path with tons of flowers and plants! It was a nice break from the concrete streets!!
Sunday’s outfit is extremely similar to Saturday’s (what can I say, I know what I like!) and just as comfortable! I posted an outfit wearing this shirt on Monday, but here it is tied up and the bottom instead of being worn as a tunic. And my jeans are from Loft. I found them while shopping in New York and I’m obsessed! I needed a new pair of jeans, and I love the fun ruffle, fringe detail on the bottom of these. They fit so well and are so comfy. Definitely size down though, I’m almost always a 27 but I got a 26 in these!
After the Highline we headed to the 9/11 memorial. I’ve been to NYC quite a few times, but this was the first time I made it to the memorial. It was a beautiful tribute to those who lost their lives, and definitely an emotional experience, even for someone like myself who was too young to remember that day. The above picture obviously wasn’t taken at the memorial, but I thought ‘hope’ is pretty important when thinking about events like 9/11 and everything going on in the world today.
After that we headed to Magnolia Bakery to try and find some quality cupcakes! These were definitely worth the long line! For dinner we headed to the Boathouse in Central Park. It was too dark to take any pictures, but the food was amazing!
Monday I headed back to school and I’m now back in the swing of things in terms of school and everything else! Tonight is my sorority’s formal and I can’t wait! I’ll be sure to post a little OOTN on Insta-stories if you’re interested!
xx, C
